Whilst the best footballers need to show they can perform on a wet Tuesday night in Stoke, the best athletes need to show they can perform on an icy Wednesday afternoon in Hampton and Tiffin’s cross-country teams certainly stood up to the test. After some Iten-style warm ups from Mr Shaw, which involved helping him mark the course, and some rousing words from Mr Scott and Ms Shoebridge, the three Tiffin teams were good to go. Max set the As off to a good start coming in in 4th place with a brave race from their second runner Fredric who was running a year up. Leg of the day came from Hercules Wimbledon extraordinaire, Thomas, who made it look like the rest of the third leg runners were going backwards as he breezed past them with ease. Lucus held strong to hand over to Atharv, who ran the second quickest Year 12 leg of the day, to give the baton over to Connor in 4th place. Foley fought a hard leg, again leaving runners in his wake as if he were the fourth Ingebrigtsen brother, to bring Tiffin As home to a valiant 2nd place, their best finish in the Judge Cup’s current format. The B team were not far behind the As with Hughie and Cathal both running bravely to ensure they were the third B team home. In the girls race, Yasmine, Joely, and the incredible ‘Sophie the sprinter’ gave it their all on the 2 lap course. Despite a sprained wrist, Yasmine showed off her style and blazed through the first leg. Sophie ran like lightning, recording the second fastest time among the female runners. And let’s not forget Joely, who delivered a great individual effort bronze-worthy performance. Together, these fierce and determined girls brought home an amazing third-place finish for our team. Many thanks to Mr Shaw for organising what was a fantastic day of cross-country racing, lets hope the As can go at least one better next 75th and 5th anniversary year!
