On a Cold, foggy Wednesday afternoon in Hampton, Tiffin’s cross-country teams stood up a test from the best that the South East of England could muster – trying to cover the largest distance possible with a relay team in 24 minutes. After some team planning which involved walking the course, nice long warm up  and some rousing words from the Year 11’s, the 7 Tiffin teams were good to go.

With a strong senior team made up of Connor, Atharv and Thomas, each leg was dominant and they breezed past the competition finishing in 1st place by over 400 metres! The B team was not far behind, having strong legs from Akaran and Andrew, alongside the team Captain Estaban, ultimately finishing in 7th place. Then came the 3 talented Inter teams. With great determination and pace, the 1st Inter boys team came through to a great 8th place with strong legs even when tired from Haruki and Josh.  Special mentions to Ethan who, despite running a year up, made the rest of his leg runners look like they were going backwards. Both other Inter boys teams were not far behind having fought to the last second to get the maximum distance, showing great persistence and grit despite the cold.

Finally, the 2 Junior boys teams – despite being a team of Year 7s in an age group up to Year 9’s, they put on a show with the A team finishing in 12th place beating out teams much older than themselves. This shows great potential for the team and determination even against older opposition. The B team also put on a strong performance, only narrowly falling behind the A team in 14th place.

Many thanks to Mr Shaw for bringing the team to the event and helping to organise this.  Many congratulations to everyone running and putting in a great effort.
