Here we are, finally at Tiffin Sport we have made it to Christmas! Our last update before breaking up for a well-deserved rest. We had a big block fixture against Reigate Grammar School, as well as a triangular at the U13 level involving RGS Guildford with mixed success, a competitive fixture against Wilson’s for our senior badminton side, and a brilliant achievement for Tiffin being one of a limited number of state schools in The Cricketer’s Top 100 School’s Guide!

Following a deluge from the night before, Saturday morning at Grists was due to be a rather wet and muddy affair against Reigate, with the U12’s fixture falling victim to the weather due to standing water. The 1st XV bounced back with a big victory (40-5) following a brilliant performance against a relatively strong Reigatian side – their overall record now standing at 12 wins and 4 losses, the best a Tiffin 1st XV has looked this side of Christmas for some time. The U16’s on the 1st XV pitch at Grists, in difficult conditions, put on yet another brilliant defensive performance to beat Reigate 12-0, another side they have lost to in years gone past. Their improvement as a squad has been colossal and they’re looking to keep the trajectory of their improvement up post-Christmas amid some difficult fixtures. Both U13 A&B sides got the better of Reigate but fell to RGS Guildford in their triangular, a good opportunity to see both sides of the game in winning and losing, taking positives and negatives from each match.

Our Sixth Form badminton team recently took on a very difficult Wilson’s side. Despite a spirited fight, the A Team fell 8-1 but the B Team reclaimed some pride for Tiffin winning 7-2!

Tiffin has once again been selected as one of the country’s Top 100 Cricket Schools as per The Cricketer’s magazine once again. This is a tremendous achievement for Tiffin, being one of only 14 other state schools across the country, with three being tied with three specialist cricket academies! We look forward to getting out there after Easter and the season starting.

Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year from everyone in and around the Sports Department. We look forward to how Tiffin Sport grows and evolves in 2024!
