The Chamber Choir Concert on Thursday 25th April at St. Luke’s Church was the Choir’s last performance together before its many Y13 members move on to new opportunities beyond school. And for most, we are pleased to hear, this will include singing, whether as music or drama undergraduates, choral scholars or choir members. Given this talent and dedication among the choir membership, the quality of the choir’s outstanding concert performance should have come as no surprise: an impressive show of how far this senior team of singers has come over the course of the academic year. Works such as Eric Whitacre’s Sleep and Joanna Forbes-L’Estrange’s Magnifcat sounded superb sung by the choir in the space of St. Luke’s Church, as did the solos offered by the Y13 leavers. We look forward to the talented Y12 and Y11 choristers continuing this momentum as the ensemble welcomes new members next academic year.
