The Tiffin Maths department is exceptionally proud of all the 230 students from Years 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 who recently took part in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge, achieving the school’s best ever results. 74 of our students achieved gold awards, which are given to around the top 10% of entries nationwide, with 101 silvers and 47 bronzes. 11 students qualified for the prestigious British Mathematics Olympiad (round 1), which is reserved for the top 1,000 or so Mathematicians. Special thanks must go to the Year 11s who took part in the challenge during their mock exams, and special congratulations to Oliver who achieved a gold award in Year 9 (!), as well as Yichen (Year 10), Duy (Year 11), Toby (Year 12), Lucas , Riki and Ben (all Year 13) who achieved the best results in their year (the last 4 also jointly the best in the school). We wish everyone best of luck in the follow-on rounds which took place earlier this week.

Finally we are delighted at some real success among the girls who have only recently joined us. Not only did we comfortably have more girls taking part in BMO1 than we have ever had, but they also recently took part in the Maths Olympiad for Girls with tremendous success, smashing all previous records, achieving 4 merits and 4 distinctions. Special mentions go to Manavi  and Anna Hall for jointly obtaining the best result in the school.
